Kansas Republican Party 3rd District Chair Wendy Bingesser is running to become the next state GOP national committeewoman.
Bingesser said Friday she plans to run for the seat that Kim Borchers plans to leave next year after one term. The election is next year at the party's annual convention.
Bingesser is not expected to be the only candidate for the position.
"The Kansas Republican Party needs a leader who recognizes that we are one team against a unified Democratic Party," Bingesser said in a statement.
