Bill shifting budget power over election commissioners headed to governor

The Kansas Legislature on Friday approved a bill giving the state’s four largest counties control over the purse strings of election commissioners.

The bill, which now heads to Gov. Jeff Colyer, takes the budget power away from the secretary of state's office and gives it to the county commissions in Shawnee, Johnson, Wyandotte and Sedgwick counties.

The House approved the bill 90-30. The SSJ
