UPDATED: Attorney general suggests deadline for passing school finance bill; Democrats call for quick resolution

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is recommending the Legislature pass a new school finance plan by March 15 to give the state's attorneys time to prepare their case for the state Supreme Court.

The state Supreme Court has set April 15 as the deadline for filing legal briefs demonstrating how the Legislature complied with the court's order to add more money to cover the cost of inflation.

In response to an inquiry from Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, the attorney general said in a SSJ
