Aetna urges judge to deny KanCare contracts; time running short for decision

Aetna on Tuesday asked a Shawnee County judge to force the state to rebid the contracts for the state's Medicaid program, saying there wasn't enough evidence to justify how the contracts were awarded.

Marc Kessler, the lawyer for Aetna, cited the destruction of notes and other documents compiled by teams that evaluated the bidders’ responses to technical questions used to score the proposals.

Kessler argued the destroyed records should merit rebidding the contracts, which went to Sunflower Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare and a coalition called Healthy Blue that includes Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Blue Cross . . .
