The historic battle over a constitutional amendment that will set the course for abortion in Kansas has surpassed $5 million with the election seven weeks away.
The rival sides in the state's hottest political debate in a generation have either spent or reserved about $5.4 million in broadcast ads as of late Tuesday afternoon, according to the national political ad tracking firm AdImpact.
The two groups supporting the amendment - the Value Them Both Coalition and the education arm of Kansans for Life - have now spent or reserved $2.3 million in broadcast time, according to AdImpact.
