Kobach, Warren slug it out in attorney general debate

Republican attorney general candidates Kris Kobach and Kellie Warren traded punches over their legal experience and competence with the primary election now seven weeks away.

The third GOP candidate - former federal prosecutor Tony Mattivi - tried to rise above the brawl as he portrayed himself as an experienced legal professional who has the best chance of getting elected this fall.

All three candidates were on stage Wednesday at a debate sponsored by the Johnson County Bar Association at the Overland Park Doubletree Hotel.

The winner will likely face Democrat Chris Mann in the general election.
