House Majority Leader Chris Croft announced late Wednesday afternoon that his policy director would be departing to return to the state agency that regulates utilities.
Peter Barstad is returning to the Kansas Corporation Commission where he will oversee the agency's Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Division.
Barstad previously worked as the legislative liaison for the KCC from 2021 to 2025.
In his new role, Barstad will be responsible for consumer assistance, organizing public hearings, fielding media questions, overseeing the agency's website while serving the the agency's primary go-between with the Legislature.
