Precinct committee leaders on Thursday night nominated former Salina mayor and retired travel agent Luci Larson to run in the general election for the House District 69 seat now represented by Republican Clarke Sanders.
Sanders withdrew from the election last week for health reasons. He will finish out his third term, which ends in January. The former radio broadcaster has been in the Kansas House since 2021. He had fallen ill lately and had been hospitalized.
Larson, also a former Saline County commissioner and a Salina city commissioner, defeated Paul Gebhardt Jr. Only 14 votes were cast. Party officials did . . .
