Will Legislature respond to Lawrence’s SB 180 ordinance?

When Wyandotte County's Unified Government passed a law last year prohibiting local law enforcement from working with federal immigration authorities, it didn't take long for the Kansas Legislature to react.

In less than two weeks after the UG approved its Safe and Welcoming ordinance, a bill banning Kansas cities from protecting undocumented immigrants was introduced.

Within two months, the legislation was signed into law and enacted.

Now, the Republican-controlled Legislature is confronted with another local law, this one . . .
