Republican Sara Hart Weir on Monday announced that she will run for Congress in the Kansas 3rd District.
The former chief executive and president of the National Down Syndrome Society had signaled Sunday night that she planned to make a "major announcement."
Weir's interest in running has been known for months as she made the rounds in Republican political circles lining up support to run for the seat held by Democratic Congresswoman Sharice Davids.
