Legislative leaders on Monday agreed to move ahead with a study of rising electric rates in Kansas after failing to agree on a vendor a couple weeks ago.

The Legislative Coordinating Council  agreed to hire London Economics International of Boston to conduct the first two phases of the study due by January.

The state will rebid the last portion of the study, due by next summer. Bids on the last part of the study are due by Oct. 1.

The state will pay London Economics $309,000 for the first phases of the study.
