Democratic state Sen. Mary Ware of Wichita is drawing a Republican challenger for Senate District 25.
Keenen Smith, who describes himself as a small business owner who served in the Army, has announced plans to run against Ware later this year. He said he now owns small recycling technology business.
Smith has appointed a treasurer to raise money for the campaign but had not officially filed as of Monday morning.
He characterized himself on his website as a candidate who supports "pro-gun rights, pro-liberty ideals, property rights, a free market, fiscal responsibility . . .
