Democratic state Rep. Christina Haswood of Lawrence is setting the stage for a primary showdown with incumbent state Sen. Marci Francisco for a seat in the Kansas Senate.
Haswood said Monday that she intends to run for the Senate in District 2, which is now represented by Francisco.
Haswood appointed a treasurer, which allows her to start raising money for the campaign.
“Conversations with constituents, family, and supporters over the past several months have highlighted the need for my skill-set, passion, and perspective in the Kansas Senate," Haswood said in a statement.
