Toland does about-face on mayor’s race endorsement

Democratic Lt. Gov. David Toland is backpedaling on his endorsement of former state Rep. Tom Burroughs in the race for the mayor of the Unified Government in Kansas City.

Last week, a text message went out that included an endorsement of Burroughs from Toland, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and Democratic state Rep. Louis Ruiz.

The text went out Friday morning and by Sunday was rescinded - just two days before Wyandotte County holds its primary election for Unified Government mayor.
