The Kansas Supreme Court on Friday ruled that Gov. Laura Kelly cannot withdraw Judge Jeffry Jack as a nominee to the Kansas Court of Appeals, bringing an end in sight to a nearly two-month-long political kerfuffle over the appointment.
"The Governor nor the appointee possessed statutory authority to withdraw the appointment and stop that process," the court ruled.
