The state's top federal prosecutor late Tuesday urged Kansans to refrain from spreading "irresponsible rumors" about an immigration enforcement sweep in the southwest corner of the state last week.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Kriegshauser for the first time spoke publicly about immigration enforcement activities carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the heart of the state's meat-packing corridor.
He said 104 arrests were made, some with dangerous criminal histories.
He said claims that the raids were based on skin color and race were "misguided and irresponsible."
