State leaders denounce Holocaust comparisons

Comparisons of the Holocaust to vaccine mandates surfaced again at a legislative hearing Friday when a state senator rebuked a former mayoral candidate from Kansas City for wearing a Star of David on his shirt.

Democratic state Sen. Pat Pettey scolded Daran Duffy for wearing an oversized Star of David on his hooded sweatshirt and demanded that it be removed.

She said it was disrespectful to the millions of Jews who died during the Holocaust.

"You are not respecting Jewish people when you were a star like that. You are desecrating that memory," Pettey said.
