As the legislative session grinds toward an end, so does any hope that sports wagering will be legalized in Kansas this year.
Considered one of the front-runners to take advantage of a new Supreme Court ruling that authorized sports gambling nationally, Kansas was ultimately unable to move ahead this year.
Even amid a flurry of talks among legislators, casinos and the Kansas Lottery, sports wagering never got far off the ground throughout the session.
Now, a leading lawmaker says it's too late to move forward with sports wagering this session.
