The Kansas Senate on Tuesday rejected Gov. Laura Kelly's controversial appeals court nominee, clearing the way for her to make a new appointment to the bench.

Following through on the orders of the Kansas Supreme Court, the Senate voted 38-0 to reject Judge Jeffry Jack's nomination to the Kansas Court of Appeals. The action allows Kelly to move ahead with a new nomination, Lawrence attorney Sarah Warner.

A confirmation hearing for Warner is set for May 28. The Senate will vote on the confirmation on May 29 . . .
