Senate panel recommends delay for property taxes

A Senate committee Wednesday recommended delaying property tax payments without penalty as one of a series of tax bills it's positioning to send to the House on the last day of the session.

The tax committee packaged the property tax delay with legislation that could be sent to the House for a concurrence in order to get the bills to the governor for her signature.

Most of the bills had already passed the Senate but were left hanging when the Legislature adjourned March 19 as lawmakers hurried to leave as the coronavirus took hold in Kansas.
