Selzer named to crop insurance board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has named former Kansas Insurance Commissioner Ken Selzer to a panel that oversees the federal crop insurance program.

Selzer and three others - Nicole Berg of Washington, Scott Silveus of Indiana and Pat Swanson of Iowa - were named to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation board of directors. They will serve four-year terms starting Nov. 20.

The board oversees the federal crop insurance program managed by the Agriculture Department's Risk Management Agency.

Federal law requires board members to represent core groups involved in managing farm risk, including at least one who is a specialty . . .
