Secretary of State Scott Schwab has named Connie Schmidt to replace Fred Sherman as interim Johnson County election commissioner.
Schmidt served as Johnson County election commissioner from 1995 to 2004 and was reappointed to that position in 2020 to mentor the county’s next election commissioner.
She now serves as a certified election training instructor, a program launched under the Schwab administration, providing education and guidance to election officials across Kansas.
Schmidt will serve in the interim role through Sep 1.
