Republican Attorney General Derek Schmidt on Monday reported raising a little more than $1.6 million in 2021 for the upcoming governor's race, roughly about $400,000 less than Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly.
Schmidt turned in better numbers than former Republican Gov. Sam Brownback in off election years during his term but less than the $1.9 million that former Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius raised in 2005 ahead of her reelection.
