Schmidt lifts moratorium on securities fees; plans reduction

State Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt will start collecting securities fees again next month, although at half the amounts previous levied.

Schmidt is lifting the moratorium that had been in place for fiscal years 2022 and 2023 following a 2019 lawsuit challenging a law that led to the state collecting millions in fees for regulating the securities industry to subsidize general state operations.
