Republican voters on Tuesday faced a dilemma of head versus heart in the primary election for U.S. Senate.

Former Secretary of State Kris Kobach — long a polarizing figure in Kansas politics — divided the electorate within his own party, with some choosing to vote for another candidate in order to keep him from winning the nomination.
