Republican files for Thomas’ House seat

A member of the Spring Hill City Council has filed for a seat in the Kansas House that will come open with Rep. Adam Thomas' decision to run for the state Senate.

Chip VanHouden has filed to run as a Republican for House District 26 in Johnson County.

The district has been represented by Thomas since 2019. Thomas is running for the state Senate against Democrat Stacey Knoell.

VanHouden, a bio-medical sales representative, was appointed in 2022 to serve out the term of Council Member Steve Owen, who resigned.
