State utility regulators approved Evergy's plan to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles by offering rebates to customers who move to a cleaner form of transportation.
The Kansas Corporation Commission approved rebates for the installation of 240-volt outlet or hardwired electric-vehicle chargers.
The amount is determined by whether customers are enrolled in a special program for electric-vehicle charging rates.
The rebate would be $500 for customers who are part of the electric vehicle program and $250 for customers who are not.
