Higher education officials this week will consider a plan for using GPA instead of class ranking as part of the admission requirements for most state universities.
Board of Regents staff believe the new standards would be more uniform and enhance the chance of student success while opening the door to more students who want a college degree.
The plan calls for no longer using class ranking as part of the admission criteria at Kansas State, Wichita State, Emporia State, Pittsburg State and Fort Hays State universities.
