Rating in governor’s race changes; JoCo’s key role Tuesday

The national political observers at the University of Virginia changed their rating for the Kansas governor's race to "lean Republican," giving the edge to Republican Attorney General Derek Schmidt over Democratic incumbent Gov. Laura Kelly.

"Republicans may not be overly enthusiastic about state Attorney General Derek Schmidt, but he may be acceptable enough to all factions of the party to get the job done against Gov. Laura Kelly," wrote the authors of Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball.

Another national handicapper, Louis Jacobson, senior correspondent for PolitiFact, kept the Kansas race as a SSJ
