A proposed amendment to the state constitution in response to a historic state Supreme Court ruling on abortion will not call for banning the procedure, a leading abortion opponent said Tuesday.

Mary Kay Culp, executive director of Kansans for Life, gave lawmakers a peek into the constitutional amendment her group is working on to answer a Supreme Court ruling that found abortion rights are embedded in the state constitution.
