UPDATED: Presta out at Kansas lottery


Terry Presta is out as the executive director of the Kansas Lottery.

Presta said Tuesday that Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly relieved him of his duties effective 12:01 p.m. Monday, immediately after she was sworn in.

Presta, appointed by former Gov. Sam Brownback in 2013, said he received a letter delivered last week from the transition team notifying him that would not be kept on as part of the new administration.

"I got a letter that basically said you serve at the pleasure of your governor and you're not being renewed," Presta said in an interview.
