Two new outside groups have joined the Republican primary for governor, one backing Senate President Ty Masterson and another trying to stop Republican Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt.
The Iowa-based American Future Fund started running a new ad Wednesday morning opposing Schmidt in the governor's race. The social welfare group that's not required to disclose its donors has booked about $274,000 in air time.
