New House member elected from House District 13

There's a new House member for House District 13.

Republican precinct committee leaders on Tuesday night elected longtime southeast Kansas veterinarian Duane Droge of Eureka as the newest members of the House.

Droge replaces former Republican state Rep. Joe Newland of Neodesha, who resigned from the Legislature to become president of the Kansas Farm Bureau.

A veterinarian since 1980, Droge grew up in a farm family in Bern, in Nemaha County, and attended Kansas State University where he earned his degree in veterinary medicine

Droge received 73 of 77 votes. He was the only person nominated. He's eligible . . .
