Governor bans TikTok on state devices

Gov. Laura Kelly handed down an executive order Wednesday banning the social media platform TikTok on all state-owned devices for Kansas executive branch agencies.

The governor issued the order in response to recent warnings from the FBI and the Federal Communications Commission that user data from TikTok is potentially being shared with the Chinese government, posing both a national and cybersecurity threat.

"Today, I am taking common-sense steps to protect Kansans’ privacy and security,” Kelly said in a statement.
