Marisa Bayless has moved up the ranks at the Kansas Supreme Court to become special counsel to Chief Justice Marla Luckert.
Bayless revealed her new position Wednesday morning when testifying before the joint legislative committee on information technology.
She appeared to testify about the security incident that has taken the court system offline for almost a week.
Bayless revealed little information beyond what has already been public about the online shutdown. Most of the discussion about the case took place in executive session.
Bayless has been Luckert's deputy special counsel since 2021.
