Medicaid contract freeze returns amid immunity debate

As a conference community struggles to reach a compromise on extending civil immunity protections for health care providers, a new wrinkle emerged Thursday reviving a proposed freeze on KanCare contracts.

House negotiators offered an amendment to a separate bill that would block the governor from seeking a request for proposals or entering into a contract for the state's Medicaid program until after Jan. 31, 2023.
