A longtime aide to Senate President Ty Masterson is leaving her position in the Senate to take a job with the attorney general.
Masterson announced late Friday that Michelle Schroeder is stepping down as his chief of staff to go to work for Attorney General Kris Kobach as a senior adviser.
Masterson did not announce her replacement.
Word had already been circulating this week that Schroeder was planning to leave the Senate president's office.
Schroeder is a veteran of conservative Republican politics and has been at Masterson’s side for years, including as co-director for the Kansas Truth . . .
