Mann makes staff annnouncements

As he sets up shop, Congressman-elect Tracey Mann on Friday announced he’s hired a couple of staffers who have experience with U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran.

The incoming 1st District congressman named Brandon Harder of Haven as his chief of staff and former state Rep. Reid Petty of Liberal as his district director.

Harder is now director of government relations and communications for the Farmers Rice Cooperative and previously served as an aide to Moran when he chaired  the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Harder also worked in Moran’s office as agriculture and trade legislative assistant for four years and as field director for his Senate campaign in 2010.

Harder earned a degree in animal science from Kansas State University.

He and his wife, Kristina, plan to divide their time between Washington and Kansas.

Petty, a former state House member from Liberal, now works in Garden City as Moran’s district director for southwest Kansas.

He previously served on the Liberal School Board and worked as the legislative and public outreach coordinator for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Petty attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

Petty and his wife, Hannah, have a 1-year-old son, Nicholas.

“We are working hard to assemble a top-tier team who will represent the values of the Big First,” Mann said.

“We are ready get to work and take some Kansas common sense to Washington.”
