UPDATED: Lone Democrat withdraws from congressional race

The lone Democrat to announce a congressional candidacy in the Kansas 2nd District has told supporters she is pulling out of the race because of an inability to raise money.

Abbie Hodgson, a former aide to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and the House minority leader, told about 500 supporters about her decision in an email obtained by the Sunflower State Journal.

"We were able to raise what is not an insignificant amount of money," Hodgson wrote.  "That being said, unfortunately, it isn’t enough to fund a competitive Congressional race."
