Lawmakers consider cellphone ban in schools

Kansas lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban students from using cellphones during normal school hours in an effort that supporters say will reduce distractions and enhance learning in the classroom.

The bill, heard Thursday in the House Education Committee, would require the board of education of each school district to adopt policies and procedures to restrict the student use of personal cellphones at school.
