State lawmakers on Monday started putting together an incentives package that could be used to bring the Chiefs or the Royals to the Kansas side of the state line.
A House-Senate conference committee started rewriting the state law that would make a lucrative tax incentive known as STAR bonds available to a professional sports team.
The Chiefs and Royals "are certainly our primary target," said Republican state Rep. Sean Tarwater, chair of the House commerce committee.
