Legislative leaders approved nearly $600,000 in legal settlements this week, including one with the family of a woman killed by a driver trying to outrun a Highway Patrol trooper.
The state Finance Council, made up of the governor and legislative leadership, approved settlements in four cases brought against four different state agencies for a total of $586,250.
