Democratic state Rep. Ford Carr late Tuesday rebuked a formal letter from Republican leaders putting him on notice for a rules violation stemming from comments he made questioning the motives of a fellow Democratic lawmaker.
Carr called the claims in the letter "baseless" and said it was an attempt to "silence" his voice as a Black lawmaker.
He said there "are members of this Legislative Body who have difficulty accepting a black member of the legislature . . .
