The knock on Kris Kobach has always been he can't win general elections.
He couldn't in 2004, when he lost to Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore.
He couldn't in 2018, when he lost to Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly.
In between, he won general elections for secretary of state in 2010 and 2014, each with a healthy 59% of the vote.
Now, Kobach is headed for another general election, but this time after a Republican primary in which he had to overcome powerful influences within his own party.
