A day after it was declared that he gathered enough signatures to get on the ballot as an independent candidate, conservative state Sen. Dennis Pyle lost support from a Republican brand name: attorney general candidate Kris Kobach.
Very early Friday morning without much fanfare, Kobach quietly - or as quietly as someone can on social media - backed Republican Attorney General Derek Schmidt for governor while taking a backhanded swipe at Pyle.
