Democratic gubernatorial candidate Laura Kelly on Saturday night promised to slam the door on the era of former Gov. Sam Brownback, set aside political ideology and work for the good of Kansans.

In her first major speech since winning the Democratic nomination, the state senator from Topeka told the party faithful she may not be the most flamboyant candidate, but she's the one most committed to working for the state's best interests.
