Kelly names Hensley aide as chief of staff; new Senate staffer hired

Gov.-elect Laura Kelly on Thursday named an aide to Democratic Minority Leader Anthony Hensley as her chief of staff.

Kelly picked Will Lawrence to run the governor's office when she takes office in January.

Meanwhile, Hensley tapped Kerry Gooch, former executive director of the Kansas Democratic Party, to replace Lawrence as his new chief of staff.

Lawrence has served as Hensley's chief of staff since January 2017. Before that he worked in the Lawrence law firm of former House Minority Leader Paul Davis.
