Gov. Laura Kelly's administration has wrapped up its work on new child care regulations that will allow providers to take care of more children at a younger age.
The proposed rules are intended to solve a shortage in child care, something that could make it easier for parents to keep jobs while addressing demands in the labor market.
A poll of 300 businesses done by the Kansas Chamber of Commerce found that 65% agreed that a lack of access to child care keeps Kansans out of the workforce.
