Kansas unemployment rate rockets upward in April

The unemployment rate in Kansas soared to its highest point in more than 40 years as it more than tripled in April as the coronavirus hit the state.

The Kansas Department of Labor reported today that the state's unemployment rate reached 11.2%, more than triple the 2.8% unemployment rate from March. The unemployment rate for Kansas was 3.2% in April 2019.
