Kansas settles unclaimed property dispute with Delaware

Kansas will collect $1.5 million from a settlement reached after the state won a U.S. Supreme Court case that forced the state of Delaware to give up millions in unclaimed property.

The settlement resulted from a 2016 case brought by former Attorney General Derek Schmidt with more than 20 other states against Delaware for taking millions of dollars in unclaimed property.

Two years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Delaware, which took money from checks issued by MoneyGram that were sold around the country but . . .
